December 2025: Looking Back at the Year

It’s that time of year again. The bells begin to jingle; the smell of Christmas ham fills the air; and the oh so holly Christmas carols ring loud.
(And then some of them get annoying really quickly).
But with the Christmas season comes a sense of communal introspection. Kiwis like to look back on their past twelve months; often to celebrate the wins; sometimes to commiserate the losses; but generally, with this feeling of “this has been a significant year.”
Yet, for AV Events this December, that statement isn’t a truism. It isn’t a pithy phrase thrown out as part of our annual cultural ritual.
It really has been a monumental year for us.
But rather than offer a longwinded reflection on what that process has been like (who has the energy for that this time of year?), we are going to finish with a bit of fun.
Here’s some of the moments that have been going on behind the scenes of our events this year. These are the things that you don’t see. Those “did that really happen?” moments.
A Quick Notice
Before we do, here's a quick note about the holiday break. AV Events will close down on the 19th of December and reopen on the 5th of January.
But if you have an event on during these dates that you need help with, please still let us know as we would be happy to help.
Our Year
Okay, here it goes. Some highlights from 2025.
(1) We welcomed in our fearless new leaders. (They still don't like Auckland traffic, which is fair enough!)

(2) Some of the team went on an ... important, site visit to the Rotorua luge.

(3) Back to the bottom of the country again.
(Or were they dreaming of their next "work trip"?

(4) Isaac got stuck behind an LED wall.
(5) Tate did more ... important site visits, etc. etc. (we don't always know what he does on his billable hours).

(6) We hosted our local fire brigade for a visit (it was a faulty alarm, we promise).

(7) Isaac got stuck behind another wall.
Well, in his defence, Scott took his ladder away and then proceeded to joke with the client about leaving him there for the event.
(8) Our leaders told us they were going to lots of networking functions this year. But this is the only photo we have of said ... "networking."
(Seriously though, does this photo even need a caption?)

(9) Jordan has really been thriving in his role as an account manager...
...and, as you can see, he's gotten quite proficient at multi-tasking during his events.

(10) Ollie continued to step up in the lighting department this year.
But we were sometimes left with the feeling that he...
...well, that he was in a different universe.
(11) Seth and Theo realised they were cousins! (once removed).
So now there's rival sets of cousings at work.
But Jordan and Isaac aren't once removed. Just first cousins.
So they have the upper hand ... they say.
Meaning that vision trumps audio ... they say.
(Ongoing debate about which is the best department continues).

From the team at TES, we want to wish you a very merry Christmas! We hope that any time you get off is immensely refreshing and that you can bring in the new year reinvigorated for what is to come.
